Vegetables, grains, and fungi transformed over live fire — with a seasonal menu and a table that's actually yours for the evening.
The Wharf District · Dinner nightly from 5pm
Every plate begins with plants and fire. We char, smoke, ferment, and slow-roast vegetables, grains, and fungi from suppliers we know by name. The menu changes with the season, we'll guide you through a pairing if you want one, and if you're celebrating something, our private room is built for exactly that.
Live-fire cooking isn't a gimmick here — it's the whole method. Our kitchen was built around wood and coal from day one, back when Slow Ember was a weekend food truck testing cabbages, roots, and mushrooms on a borrowed grill. Fire draws sweetness from an onion, depth from a mushroom, and entirely new textures from leaves and grains. We work with a small group of local farms whose names you'll see on the menu, because where an ingredient grows is part of how it tastes.
"We cook plants with the same patience usually reserved for everything else."
Our private dining room seats small groups comfortably for birthdays, anniversaries, closings, and anything else worth marking with a proper meal. It comes with its own version of the pairing menu, curated for your group, and a direct line to our team — no third-party app, no guessing whether your request went through.
"We booked the private room for my parents' anniversary and it felt like the whole night was built around us. The pairing menu alone was worth it."D.K., example guest
"You can taste the twelve hours. This is not fast food dressed up — it's genuinely slow, and it shows."M.O., example guest
"We closed a deal over dinner here and it somehow still felt personal, not corporate. Booked directly, no app, no hassle."R.S., example guest
Reserve directly with us — for a regular table or the private room — no third-party app required.
We hold some tables for walk-ins each night, but reservations are strongly recommended, especially on weekends — the dining room is small by design.
Pricing varies by season since the menu and pairings change with it. Current pricing is confirmed at the time of booking.
The private room is available for groups of 6 and up, seating comfortably up to 14 guests.
The menu is fully plant-based. Let us know about allergies when you reserve and our kitchen will work with you on the seasonal menu.
Private room bookings are confirmed with a deposit and can be rescheduled with reasonable notice. Full details are shared when you inquire.
