Yoga · Gentle Pilates · Meditation — Acacia Park

A quiet hour, in the middle of a loud week

Your first class is free — no mat, no experience, and no commitment required.

Every class is capped at 12 people, so you're never just a face in a crowd.

Three things that make starting here easier

Most people who want to slow down don't need convincing — they need a low-pressure way to actually start. So we built the studio around that: your first class costs nothing, you're never locked into a long contract, and every room stays small enough that an instructor actually knows your name.

What happens in the room

Every class blends movement with a few minutes of stillness — a short breathing pause mid-class, and a brief journaling moment at the end. No two classes feel identical, but the rhythm stays familiar.

Gentle Pilates

Low-impact strength and mobility work, easy on the joints, focused on control over intensity.

Guided Meditation

Seated, instructor-led sessions for people who've never meditated and don't know where to start.

Most students come 2-3 times a week, mixing class types. Mornings, lunch-hour, and early-evening slots run most days — see live availability in the calendar below.

How Root Studio started

Root Studio began on a borrowed terrace, taught by an instructor who left a corporate job after a period of burnout and started teaching a handful of neighbors who wanted the same thing she did — one hour, a few times a week, that belonged only to them. Word of mouth did the rest. Today the studio has its own three-room space near the park in Acacia Park, an active community of regulars, and a couple of weekend retreats outside the city each year for people who want to go further. The approach hasn't changed much: movement, a breathing pause, and a few minutes to write something down before you head back out the door.

What students say (illustrative examples)

"I went in expecting to feel out of place. I didn't. Nobody's watching you — everyone's just there for the hour."
M.K., example student
"I signed up for the free class mostly to see if I'd actually go back. I've been coming twice a week for four months now."
D.O., example student
"The journaling thing at the end sounded a little much to me at first. Now it's the part I look forward to most."
R.T., example student

Frequently asked questions

I've never done yoga, pilates, or meditation before. Is this for me?

Yes — most people who book a free first class have never done any of the three before. Instructors set the pace for whoever's in the room that day, not the other way around.

What if I can't commit to a fixed schedule?

That's the point of the flexible plans — there's no fixed weekly slot you're locked into. Book whichever classes fit your week, and adjust or pause anytime.

What should I bring?

Nothing, for your first class — mats and props are provided. After that, most students bring their own mat, but studio mats are always available.

Can I cancel or change my plan later?

Yes. Plans are no-commitment — you can pause, downgrade, or cancel at any time with no cancellation fee.

Is the free class really free, no strings attached?

Yes. There's no payment information required to book it, and no obligation to sign up for anything afterward.
